STORY TIME

This is what I like to call the circle bridges at Wildwood. In high school my friends and I accidently wandered into the park at night and some how made our way to these circle bridges. Along the way someone slipped on once and proceeded to lay there on their back just laughing...which I mean it was kind of funny. But it was so dark, I don't even remember where in the park he has fell. I hadn't since returned to the bridges. Not because I didn't want to, but because I couldn't find how to get there (its a lot harder to find than I thought it was going to be).

Finally after 5 years, I discovered the same routine we took to get to the bridges, but this time in the daylight. Though I took the same path, I did in high school I couldn't seem to figure out where he had laid for a good 10 mins laughing about slipping on black ice. But the memory of this event had not be forgotten.

Once getting to the bridges I realized that they were a lot bigger than I had remembered. But, not complained at all because there is a truly amazing view and plenty of room for a blanket and a potential picnic area.

Pros:
  • Bathrooms: There are fairly nice bathrooms, some are made up to look like a historical design
  • Manor House: FUN FACT - The family that used to live at the house in  the 1900s did not like the direction the creek was flowing therefore they actually changed it! And redirected the flow of the stream with the use of boulders and added soil.
  • Park: HUGE park, great for children and adults
  • Random Platforms around the park. There is a trail that will take you to a huge wooden platform in the middle of a field which is a great place to relax and observe the wildlife
  • Variety of trails: Depending on the type of terrain you enjoy to hike, you have the choice between paved, rough, gravel, wooded, bridged or prairie field trails. Therefore producing a wide range of hiking.
Cons
  • Parking: Parking lots get super full in season and may not have spots:(
    • TIP: Park behind Strahan Elementary School and enter the back trail, sometimes you'll see deer that will let you get really close but not close enough to them
